Is your Old English working as a herding dog or guardian dog?
I am familiar with them as herding dogs and wasn't sure of the way you intended working in your post (herding or guarding).
You sure have a lot of experience with the breed so I'd love to hear more.
Working Dogs - OES Very Versatile Herders by: May
I started herding lessons and competing with my Old English Sheepdog a couple of years ago. He does everything the Aussies do. He is a very round dog, excellent at gathering, and talented at driving. He can take the pressure of small spaces and has the stamina and interest to work the light sheep in the big field. We have only worked sheep and ducks, but they are good all-around stock dogs. He has lots of enthusiasm and drive, but is very sensitive to handling and cues. I would love to see more OES get a chance to be the working dogs they were bred to be.
