Working Dogs
LGD's

Share a Story

LGD - Acronym for Livestock Guardian Dog, those big white working dogs seen often in farm photos, hovering close to their livestock, looking suspicious of the camera.

LGD's are truly remarkable dogs. Great things are often expected of them. Across the nation LGD's are working in a vast array of situations; from guarding poultry on modest little acreages in urban settings to guarding large flocks in the solitude of open and empty range land.

The stories shared hear provide a good idea of the pros and cons to using livestock guardian dogs. From the successful reintegration of adult guardian dogs to a new place as Jean-Marc was able to achieve (Seeking Help With Flock Guardians) to the incredibly frustrating and unfair ruling handled down by Animal Control in Carla's story about Quincy (Protect Your Livestock Guardian Dog).
