Working Dog Takes on Motherly Role - Belgian Shepherd

The majority of the time our imagination conjures up a view of the working dog gathering or guarding stock. This brief story, shared with permission from Donna, depicts a side of working dogs that we do not hear about often and displays the inclusive nature of these dogs.

Donna writes:
We had a bottle lamb, 1 week old. I brought it into the kennel, since it was January! The first time I bottle fed the lamb Minute, my Belgian Shepherd who has always loved babies, stepped in and started to clean him. Her licking promoted the lamb to void its wastes. I then put them both in a pen together and Minute proceeded to mother the lamb.

As the lamb grew Minute started playing with him and running up and down the driveway for his exercise. It was quite a sight to see her play bowing while he lept in the air!
