Agriculture Articles and Sheep Producer Interviews

The following pages are a compilation of agriculture articles and interviews with some of the fascinating people I have connected with via this web site, hosting ranch tours and hosting herding events at Dog Tale Ranch.

I often receive emails asking questions that indicate an interest in knowing how other farmers and ranchers manage. It is my hope that these pages will grow in number and provide that information, and thus provide a broader perspective than ours alone.

I chose to begin with interviewing the following people because to me they are the kind of people you just wish to know more about. You know how you meet some people and you realize they have a very valuable perspective to offer, well these people are like that.

Sheep Producer Interviews

Heather and Ron Forbes
Location: Ontario, Canada

Dairy producers turned sheep farmers, Ron and Heather's operation includes a mixture of confinement and pasture.

Judy Gustafson
Location: Washington state, USA

A small scale pasture based operation raising sheep for meat and fiber.

Louise Liebenberg
Location: High Prairie, Alberta, Canada

An intensive sheep operation, lambing three times a year, with a goal of moving toward accelerated lambing.

Lorna Wall
Location: Popularfield, Manitoba, Canada

Producers raising hair sheep, summer grazing on native pastures, feeding hay during winter and winter lambing through the barn.

Would you like to be interviewed or do you know someone who should be?

I would like to provide more sheep farming interviews and for this to evolve to include a series of articles on some of the fascinating men and women in agriculture (do not have to be sheep producers) who toil away without ever realizing the extent of the difference they make.

If you fit into either or both categories and would like to be interviewed or know someone who should be, please contact us, as I would love to add your story to our agriculture articles and interviews collection.

How does it work?

Upon establishing contact I will email you a series of questions. When I receive your answers I will do minor edits and then post to the web site.

In exchange for your participation you have the option to share with our readers information about any sheep or sustainable agriculture related products or services you provide and to include a link or phone contact which will be posted with your interview. This equates to a bit of free advertising and added traffic to your site if applicable.

Contact us now to participate or to tell us about someone you know.
